Kate’s 25th party, guest blogger #10 – Nell Dixon

And today I’m delighted to welcome as my guest blogger the winner of this year’s RNA Romance Prize: Nell Dixon. I met her a couple of years ago – NOT at a party, I might add, but at a conference. A working one. (One where I, um – oh yeah. I was sitting round talking and drinking too much wine. OK. If you must. It was a sort of party…) I’ve also known her on the e-Harlequin boards for quite a while, where we’ve talked about Medical Romance.

So here’s Nell:

I’m thrilled to be helping Kate celebrate her 25th book. I can’t believe she’s written so many and so quickly. Well, actually, having met her I can believe it. She is very organized and a great planner.

I was first introduced to Kate’s books by a mutual friend, Pat Posner, who kept telling me I should write medicals and had I read Kate’s books? At that point I hadn’t. I’d been resisting reading anything medical in much the same way I resist watching TV shows about medical matters.

Now I’m an aspiring medical romance author and Kate’s books are amongst my favourites along with those of another new friend, Fiona Lowe. [edit from Kate: when Fiona’s back from hols next week she’s going to be a guest, too] At this point if Amanda Ashby is reading this I know she’ll be rolling her eyes and saying ‘we kept telling you to write and read medicals’. What can I say? Sometimes I can be a bit slow on the uptake.

I’m so glad I got nudged in the direction of Kate’s books and I’m looking forward to reading lots more of them.

Congratulations on your 25th!!

GIVEAWAY: Nell is offering an e-book copy of her RNA prize-winning book, Marrying Max (also available from the publisher at http://samhainpublishing.com/romance/marrying-max )

I get to give the first answer *g* - Antonio Banderas.

He'd make the perfect doctor. (See pic here for proof.) Works for me for my current Spanish doctor... :o)

vftOh, I think I'll vote for Ioan Gruffydd. Those cheekbones do it for me everytime. :)

Hi Nell - nice to talk to you on Kate's blog instead of the norads for a change. Love your cover BTW.

Hmm, let me see. My current doctor was inspired by Jude Law. Never got the Jude thing until I saw The Holiday and now I really, really get it.
George Clooney, Robert Redford, Eric Bana and Mark Harmon have all given me inspiration.
Fab topic.

Okay - that should read boards (as in e-harl).
Funny norads just means nor-adrennaline to me. Ah you can take the nurse out of the hospital.....

James D'Arcy!

But then I'd cast him in anything.

(preferably in a storyline where he has to take his shirt off. And there are lots of close-ups of his hands...)

Mmm, some good suggestions here. BTW Amy, the scary thing was I guessed what you meant!

Nell - I think that confirms that you should be one of the Meds authors... I thought the same as you did!

Back to my A&E book.

Oh Liz, good choice! LOVE Ioan. Can TOTALLY see him as a doc.

I could also see Damian Lewis.

I am wholeheartedly in support of Ioan and Damien (great choices ladies). But I'm afraid I have to trump you with the Scotsman to trounce all heros - Gerard Butler. Imagine him with a stethoscope... all I'll say is he can examine me anytime. I'm ripe for triage. Jude
(sorry I'm in a frivolous mood - thinking up meds heros turns me giddy) P.S Congrats on the 25th title Kate - I'm loving your work!

*snicker* at "ripe for triage"

Ooh, yes, Liz, Ioan Gruffydd, definitely. Kate, I'd have to keep Antonio for a fling, that accent is too delicious to be trustworthy in the monogamy department.

Amy, I sort of got Jude Law after The Holiday, but he still wouldn't be right up there for me.

Did anyone see Keanu Reeves in that one where Diane Keaton ended up with Jack Nicholson instead of Keanu?

P.S. Meant to say, where Keanu actually did play a doctor. He was more convincing as a cop in Speed.

India - hands, eh? (I have asked for Antonio as the cover model for my Catalan doctor book... but I have more suggestions to add here, I think *g*)

Judie - lovely to see you here, and thank you. A gorgeous man called Gerard has missed my radar? Must go hunting. (Am married to one - same surname initial but he looks more like Bruce Willis.)

Donna - mmm, I like that phrase, too *g*

Lilian - hmm, as it's you, I could be persuaded to share Mr Banderas. Not seen the KR film, but it sounds interesting. I quite liked his performance in 'The Lake House'.

I am going to go and post some marvellous pics of the divine Gerard on my blog immediately just for Kate. He is a man not to be missed. jx
