a weekend of Getting Things Done

Current work: Finished revisions, yay! Back to Medical
Listening to: Queen
Reading: next on TBR

Busy weekend, and I feel I achieved quite a lot:

  • finished revisions on Saturday and did final readthrough on Sunday before sending to my ed (that’s 35k of new material altogether, so I sincerely hope my ed likes it)
  • went shopping for Dad’s birthday pressie and a birthday cake (plus DH bought me a new Pandora bracelet for mine – all pretty and shiny and ready to be filled. What a sweetheart he is)
  • had a makeover (Georgia at the Clinique counter in Debenhams on Saturday morning was brilliant – very pleased as the foundation looks really natural and it hides the redness in my embarrassingly fair skin: exactly what I need for the talk on Wednesday. New lippie is lovely, too. Met DH and the kids in M&S afterwards; daughter noticed straight away and told me I looked very pretty, bless her; son looked confused, saying that I looked different – and nice – but he couldn’t work out why (should perhaps say here that I tend to go for the ‘barely there’ look – subtle, apart from the lippie); and DH just had a twinkle in his eye, so I guess that was the thumbs-up from all three)
  • answered interview questions for Writing Magazine
  • updated website (new excerpts and recipes up)
  • finished doing slides for talk
  • thought about tidying desk…

Today, it’s back to the medical romance. Must remember to get extra copies of the Evening News with the Valentine’s feature later today to send to my agent and editor. Must also practice some of the Tarrega for guitar lesson tomorrow. But, most importantly, bottom in chair and hands on keyboard...

Ah, that's the one. "Bottom in chair and hands on keyboard".

Sounds as if it was a full w/e. Hope talk goes well.

Also hope ed likes the book!

My fave bit was - thought about tidying the desk - sounds like a fab weekend. I love Clinique

I spent a large portion of the weekend thinking about tidying the desk. Unlike you, I had a very lazy weekend that included lots of reading. Bliss.

Hope your ed is pleased!

Jan - that is indeed the one. (So far today, not, because I had to go and pick up a parcel, and make soup, and nip to Sainsbury's, and...)

But am focused now.

Simone - nice to meet you. Thank you for the compliment. And I'm definitely smiling :)

Nell - LOL!! Thinking is good. Doing... am possibly going to have to bribe lovely daughter, who adores tidying, to help.

Happy birthday, btw!

Shirley - glad you had a lovely weekend. And you thought about tidying, a lot? (Mine was the briefest of thoughts, followed by, 'Naaaah, I'll have a cup of tea instead.')

Well done on your revisions - 35,000 sounds like a huge amount of work - go on, terrify me and tell me how quickly you did them?

Yay on the revisions! 35k is an *awful* lot of re-working. Hope the ed likes it. Take care. Caroline x

Were you bitten by a radioactive spider? Where can I get one? I look on in awe.... :)

Susan - thank you. Terrify you? OK, started it on Jan 29,, finished Feb 26 (but take out 1 Feb for media, 2 Feb because I don't really work on Tuesdays, and most of 3 Feb for dental trauma because I can't work when I'm rally figety).

But there was a lot of thinking in between :)

Caroline - yup, I think the key word there is "awful"!!!

Have learned something from it, though: pace myself. Really overdid it on Sat and Sun last week, and I'm glad Mon-Weds were occupied with other things because I couldn't focus onthe book.

Lacey - LOL! (Would I like to look like Tobey Maguire? Hmm. Would rather look like Kirsten Dunst...)
