50th party blog guest - Trish Morey

I’ve known Trish Morey for years on the author email loops, and we share a love of chocolate (this is the woman who posted Caramello Koalas to me in England, all the way from Australia – and very nice they were, too, even though I was forced to share them with the rest of the family. Oh, and she mentions this in her post. I advise you to put your coffee down before you read what she says…). And she was great about letting me grill her about Broome (to do with the ladder to the moon on the sea – I was pretty sure there was a place in the UK where this happened, but she knew about the real thing, so – well, hey, research opportunity, and so much the better that it involved chatting to a friend).

And I’ve been delighted to meet Trish in person at a couple of M&B lunches, too!

I should point out that I’m not the only one celebrating a milestone book at the moment – Trish is also celebrating, with her 25th. Power to your elbow, Trish, and here’s to the next 25!

Over to Trish:

50 is such a cool number, whether it’s scoring 50 runs at cricket, reaching your 50th wedding anniversary or even turning 50 - it’s a milestone - you made it! (Even if you still tell everyone you’re 39:-) And having 50 Harlequin Mills & Boon romance titles to your name, that is a pretty awesome, not to mention one very cool milestone. Congratulations, Kate!

And how best to celebrate this fantastic achievement? Well, I could talk about my latest book, but seeing this is a celebration, I thought you might prefer some happy snaps instead:-)

I had the chance to go to SeaWorld recently. Sea World is on the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland and it’s been there since 1971. It’s an institution. I remember going as a kid and it was fun then. Nothing’s changed, the entire day I spent there was a party, as if news of Kate’s fabulous achievement had traveled nEmo-mail across the seas.

You see? These dolphins were literally dancing with excitement.

And this one named Nudge couldn’t stop smiling the whole day (a bit like our Kate, I wager, who could be up to her neck in hot water (or hot men) and still keep smiling too!) (Aside - we actually got to swim with this one and it was utterly awesome!)

What’s the relevance of this picture, I hear you ask. Well, I reckon there’s exactly 50 fish in it, that’s why. (I’ll leave you to double check.)

These guys just cracked me up. Busy, busy, busy. A bit like Kate, come to thing of it. I once sent her a package addressed to the Energiser Bunny. It got there :-)

But what better way to celebrate anything than with a parade? Here’s SeaWorld’s Spongebob Parade brightening up everyone’s day.

There’s so much more to see besides - little penguins, sharks, stingrays, even polar bears - oh, and the rides will leave you wondering which way is up...

... so if you ever do get a chance to come on down, do take the trouble to get to SeaWorld, it is so worth it and definitely one of the happiest places you can possibly go.

And to keep the party spirit going, I’m giving away a penguin - er - no can do? Okay, so how about a copy of my latest release as a door prize instead? The Sheikh’s Last Gamble is coincidentally my 25th title, so I’m coming, Kate, le puff le pant! Admittedly it’s not so good in the water, but it eats a truckload less fish. I’ll even throw in a copy of Duty and the Beast (book #24) as it’s part one in the Desert Brothers Duo and you’ll want both. You can read them on the plane on your way to SeaWorld :-)

See you there!

Ah, Trish. Those Seaworld memories are very cool - disclosure to Kate, I was there ;), we did it just before the RWAust national conference this year. I think it's a given that when romance writers get together we tend to have fun.
Lovely post, Trish. And happy dolphins.

Thanks Kelly and Kate for hosting me. And did anyone spot my obvious error? I was so busy finding cool sea world pics, I never bothered to send one of me - clever huh?:-)

It was one fabulous day, Kelly. Great location, great company and sublime temperature. Would go back there in a heartbeat.

Gorgeous post, Trish — upbeat and funny and clearly you were having a whale of a time. Is that a bit of a fishy thing to say? Or a mammaly one?

Kate I have to say I'm enjoying your party. You have the coolest guests. Happy 50th book!

What a lovely "staycation" I just had with this blog. Thanks so much! It sounds just wonderful!

Please put me in the draw for those two books. "I love me my sheikhs!" (drool)

Trish, it looks like you had the most marvellous time at Seaworld. Was Sponge Bob your favourite? The parade scored a lot of pics.

Can't wait to read your latest - and what a great title! More Morey goodness coming up.

I have to say I just love those two covers!

I loved your Sea World pictures, I have always wanted to go to one. I live in the US and where I am we don't have one close but if the ones we have are anything like yours I think the trip might be worth it. After reading the blurb's on amazon for The Sheikh’s Last Gamble and Duty and the Beast, I have to say both books sound amazing, but both of them have different covers than what's here. Is that because of me being in the US?

Staycation, Laney4? Oh, I love that:-)

You're definitely in the draw!

Eli Yanti, you're a girl after my own heart. I do love me a good (hot) sheikh:-)

You're in! Thanks for dropping by.

Hey Desere! Lovely to see you here too! Isn't SeaWorld just the most fab place? It was such fun to go back.

And thanks so much for your lovely comment about my books. Just the shot in the arm I need today before a big push on the wip!

You're in the draw!

Annie, it was fabulous. Isn't it funny how often we think, oh, I've been there, done that, who needs it? And yet, when you get back there, it's like you're a kid again and oh, so much fun! I think we need more fun (and that Spongebob parade certainly fit the bill:-))

Hi Tiffany K! My advice would be, if you have a chance to go to anything like our SeaWorld, do go, it's definitely worth the trip.

And yes, the US cover art for Presents is different to the UK where the books are published as Modern Romance. It's the same sheikh goodness inside the covers though:-))

You're in the draw!

Congrats to you both on the books!

Thanks bn100! It's amazing to see those numbers add up.

You're in the draw!

Oh, Anne Gracie was here and I missed her punniness - a whale of a time - hehe.

Happy 25th book, Trish! You and Kate are an inspiration! Awesome, both of you!

I love your Sea World snaps! Swimming with a dolphin is on my bucket list and I'm positively green with envy that you have actually done it!

We visited Monkey Mia and the dolphins while we were in WA and I stood in the shallows while the rangers feed them Having one of those superb creatures cruise slowly past and look up at me gave me tingles.

Trish Morey said...

Hi Sharon! Aren't dolphins magnificent creatures? And so very cute with it. I love that they look like they're forever smiling. Monkey Mia must be a wonderful spot to visit - aren't we lucky we can get so close to these gorgeous beasties!

Great post Trish - what lovely photographs! Late posting as I've been internetless for a few days. Most annoying! Caroline x

Trish Morey said...

No problem, Caroline, internet outages (for whatever reason) are the worst!

I've left comments open while Kate is away for the weekend - I should have said - I think Kate's spaniel is going to be a very busy puppy when she comes home!

Trish Morey said...

Kate's been a busy energiser bunny so I had Chino the Spoodle perform the task and, drum roll please...

Eli Yanti, come on down!

You've won a signed copy of Duty and the Beast and The Sheikh's Last Gamble! Congratulations!

Please drop me an email at trish at trishmorey dot com and I'll get those in the mail to you!

Thanks Kate for having me and thanks especially to everyone for dropping by!
