50th party blog guest - Susan Meier

Susan Meier is a relatively new friend; I’ve just moved lines from Modern Heat to Harlequin Romance (Cherish in the UK), and when I was invited to join the author loop Susan instantly made me feel as if I was one of the gang. I have, however, read her books for years and loved them, so I feel as if I know her anyway through her books :o)

Over to Susan:

First and foremost, I’m here today to help Kate celebrate her 50th book! Being very close to 50 books myself, I can speak directly to how much time, hard work and discipline it takes to reach that lofty number!

Her books are always heartwarming with delicious happily-ever-afters. Her fans adore her!

Congratulations, Kate, and may you write many, many more delightful books for your fans.

And speaking of delightful books (LOL!) my June release, THE TYCOON’S SECRET DAUGHTER, began the story of two brothers who were both damaged by a family secret. When Max Montgomery went to work for his dad, he discovered his “adopted” brother was actually his father’s illegitimate son. Eighteen years before, Brandon Montgomery had talked his wife into adopting his secretary’s baby without telling her he was actually the baby’s father.
Max loved his adopted brother and discovering they really were brothers was heady stuff. Until his dad told him not to mention this to his mom or his brother. Keeping that secret cost him more than he could have ever imagined, including his marriage and his daughter.

When Chance discovered the secret and, worse, that Max had known, he ran away. Though Max tried to keep track of him, it was very difficult. Every time Max found him, Chance ran again.

Over a decade later, in book 2, NANNY FOR THE MILLIONAIRE’S TWINS, the day came when he couldn’t run. He’d gotten his girlfriend pregnant. And she wasn’t thrilled. A businesswoman, she didn’t want to spend her life raising some man’s children. She gave birth to their twins and tried to raise them, but in the end she dumped them on him.

With his life in shambles, Chance returns home to his adoptive mom who now knows the secret. She’d loved him as a son her entire life and now that her husband, Brandon, is dead, she wants Chance back.

All sounds pretty good, right?

Yeah. Well…

Being duped by a woman you loved and not really trusting your family doesn’t leave a man open to a happy life. But his nanny, Tory Bingham, is unbelievably sweet and very good for his soul. She talks about things with him, makes him see how lucky he is. Especially since she herself wasn’t so lucky. She was hurt in a motorcycle accident five years before and is only now done with surgeries. Her leg is misshapen and she walks with a limp. She’s working as a nanny because she’s dead broke and has no education.

He falls hard and fast for her only to discover she wasn’t alone in her accident. Her fiancé had been driving the bike and he hadn’t fared as well as she had. He was in a coma.

Chance Montgomery, the man who finally realizes how lucky he is, has fallen in love with a woman he can’t have.

NANNY FOR THE MILLIONAIRE’S TWINS is the sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking story of two star-crossed lovers who are going to have to work a lot harder than most to have a genuine happily ever after!

My thanks to Kate for letting me talk about NANNY FOR THE MILLIONAIRE’S TWINS! But now I want to rejoin the Kate-hits-50 celebration! I’d love to hear your favorite book of Kate’s. Post a comment below to be entered to win a $10 gift card from Amazon!

I read the first book. Am keen to see what happens with Chance.

It's hard to pick a favourite book. Some I go back and read again and again. Some are vintage, some are new. I guess I have a favourite type of romance. Love reunions like Max's book. Haven't read any of Kate's new ones. Have some Medicals.
