If I don't like the feel of the book by the blurb I won't read it. It has to tell you enough to beckon you in and not so much that you feel you know the whole story. And, personally, I hate blurbs that try to pull my strings, saying things like, 'Can she find her way through this maze?' That's enough to make me put the book back on the shelf and walk away.

Liz - I think 'Rivals' is very special. Enjoy'

Sarah - maybe we should have a Boa Chapter?

Anne - my Prince and I thank you. The next book in the series is a little more than a twinkle in my eye now.

Sharon - I loved those early Jilly Coopers, a sort of combination of innocence of heart and pretty crisp sophistication of phrase, like when her calls Harriet 'the distressed gentlefuck'. Wish I'd thought of that!

Fiona - so glad you like 'No Man's Possession'. It was the first book I wrote for fabulous editor, Jacqui Bianchi, who became one of my best friends, and is precious to me.

Jenny Haddonhttp://www.jennyhaddon.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23204407.post-67644648978046205912012-08-27T12:52:43.963+01:002012-08-27T12:52:43.963+01:00The first thing that grabs my attention is the aut...The first thing that grabs my attention is the author's name as I have quite a few auto buy authors. Jenny, so nice to see what you are doing these days. Your Sophie Weston "No Man's Possession" has been on my keeper shelf forever. In fact, I once wrote her a gushing letter asking if I could be one of the books' characters if ever they were televised and she (diplomatic woman) wrote back to say, yes of course!Sharon Kendrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18006524698711143868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23204407.post-88041973403340959912012-08-27T09:53:33.230+01:002012-08-27T09:53:33.230+01:00Lovely blog -- pity I can't win To Marry a Pri...Lovely blog -- pity I can't win To Marry a Prince, since I already have a much beloved copy, but someone is in for a treat.

I'm waiting for the next book in the series (hint hint)Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02564152027118499399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23204407.post-23207153825361793552012-08-27T09:41:59.197+01:002012-08-27T09:41:59.197+01:00I really enjoyed reading your post Jenny!
